2016-2017

Holocaust Museum Houston’s first contemporary juried exhibit, “GENOCIDE:  Man’s Inhumanity to Humankind,” includes 65 selections representing 2D and 3D media. Works featured are from the more than 600 submissions by Texas area artists, with the exception of film and video. This contemporary art exhibition explores the suffering humans are capable of bestowing on one another. “GENOCIDE” is the brainchild of Holocaust Museum Houston’s changing exhibitions committee, including Gus Kopriva, owner of the Redbud Gallery in Houston, and Clint Willour, curator for the Galveston Arts Center. Willour also was the juror of the exhibition.

PICTURE Cultural Art (PCA), the new 4,000 square feet exhibition space on the first floor of the award-winning new library expansion at CSU Dominguez Hills, has announced its third exhibition, “I Have the Right.”  Drawn from a thousand submissions from all over the world, Ava Cosey was selected as artist in this exhibition featuring pieces in all media by 100 artists.   Opened November 2011, the exhibition will run until late summer, 2012.  Work was selected by the following criteria: representation of exhibition theme; cultural identification; quality of the artwork; and artist reputation and credentials. A full color catalogue featuring each work in the exhibition has been published in support of the show.
